And so, boys and girls, today's lesson is made clear: Always keep your charging cable handy if you plan on rolling in the Silicon Valley area. -

Learning computer programming is just like learning a new spoken language, except that whining on social media about how inconsistent C++ is won't do you any good. Trust us, it didn't help back in the USENET days, either. -

I applaud Google Flights's tenacity in looking for potential flight plans, in that it apparently now includes the possibility of changing *airports* during a layover, but I don't believe I'll be somehow driving from JFK to Newark in an upcoming trip, if it's all the same with you. -

I was just informed that there was suspicious login activity on my Ubisoft account.
I suppose question one in this case (after "is this email legit?", which it looked like it was) would be "since when did I have an Ubisoft account?". Far as I can recall, the last Ubisoft-related game I dealt with at all was Rayman Legends on the Wii U... -

I've been cleaning out the apartment in preparation for the move lately, and there was a LOT of old computer and electronics junk sitting around that I either gathered up while I lived here or brought down from Michigan ten years ago.
What I'm saying is, some lucky person going thrift shop diving in Lexington is going to be in for quite the surprise when they hit the nearby Goodwill. -

17 comics for Chapter Eight are chambered and ready. I'd like to get that number up a bit before the big move. -

Y'know... I know what manager contacted me, but... I don't actually know if I'm allowed to say yet? I mean, I don't see anything in this employment agreement that says I can't, but maybe I'll play it safe for now?
I'm still working out a lot of this, to be fair. -

Well, now I've got a reasonable idea of how the Live Wallpapers API in Android works. I did not know that before. So I've got that going for me. Which is good. -

I mean, that's what it says it is, right? Surely they're not expecting me to believe they sell both salad and dressing individually down this aisle. Nor are they selling packaging materials and dinner like that. -

Mmm, delicious ketchup mustard. Mustard made from pure ketchup, apparently. It's what the sign says, after all. https://social.exclaimindustries.net/attachment/2544 -

Huh. Well, one more shot with upgrading to 18.04, and it worked (relatively) smoothly this time. Even the KDE Wacom config deb I hastily slapped together works. Weird.
I mean, I'm still going to keep an eye on it for a while before I put it on my laptop (which I use more often than my desktop), but it's looking hopeful, at least. -

Hrm. Kubuntu 18.04 upgrade isn't going as smoothly as I'd hoped. Three attempts (with backup restores) later, and I think I'm going to have to wipe and reinstall instead. Good thing I keep /home on its own partition. -

I was reasonably certain the hard part was making it past the on-site interviews and having a project manager pick me up for one of their projects. After surviving both, I really should have known better. I really should have known better. -

It's quite unreasonably stressful and anxiety-inducing, really, waiting on a (hope-filled) decision regarding my employment. Worse when my previous employment ended on Friday. -

Fourteen pages later, the intro portion of the next chapter of the DoM is finished. Now to make a few "normal" strips before I start things back up. -

I have received a sudden phone call from the Google recruiter. It appears they wish to move forward with the candidacy process.
